Nadia Tognazzo was born in 1959 in Milan where she lives and works.
She has had a passion for painting since she was a child, but it is with the technique of watercolour, acquired in 1989 under the guidance of two great italien watercolour artists Anna Pavesi and Angelo Gorlini, that she expresses her true inner self. Since then using watercolour has been a totally fulfilling experience.
Her painting is mostly figurative but with a decisive intimist tone. Her watercolours show strong emotion expressed through the use of bold instinctive strokes. An energetic tension is shown in the use of contrasts, tone and strong colours, sometimes diluited to light veils and sometimes concentrated in strong lines.
Inspiration is drown principally from the reality of city life and from nature, which is a source of meditation necessary to find an inner calm, always more difficult due to the complexity of modern life.
The search for a balance between emotion, visual synthesis and line is a fundamental part of her artistic expression and pushes her to experiment with continual evolution.
Nadia Tognazzo has been a member of A.I.A. (the Italian Association of Watercolour Artists) since 1994.
She has taken part in many exhibitions in Italy (Milan, Rome, Cremona, Arezzo, Genoa, Bellagio, Piacenza, Verona, Porcia, ect.) and abroad (Barcelona, Brussels, Antwerpen, Mexico City, Saint Petersburg, Bilbao, Salonicco, Paris-Salon d’Automne 2006-2007, Ronneby, Stockholm, Leipzig etc).
